This piece was designed to comment on the impact of the built environment on the natural migration of North American Songbirds. Each migration season over fifty-five million songbirds travel through Milwaukee County. Unfortunately, the US Fish and Wildlife Service estimates that five to ten percent of these birds perish from window collisions. I wanted to create a piece that reminds us that our environment is shared, and that throughout the migration season it is extra important to be conscious of the creatures with whom we share this space.
